Infants need toys just like the older children do. They use them for stimulation, learning gross motor skills and to understand the world around them. There are many toys you can choose for your infant, but here are some of the more popular ones.
Baby gyms are an excellent development toy for infants. They can lie on the mat and look up at the different colors of the different shapes hanging above them. Their eyesight won’t be quite developed but they still things hanging there that move around. As they get older they can learn how to reach towards those hanging shaped objects and learn how to strengthen their necks by try to hold their heads up. Crib soothers are another excellent toy for infants to have. Most soothers play music to relax them at bedtime and some has moving objects in water. They may not know what they’re looking at; it’s just an interesting to them to see things moving around in this toy. This is similar to the crib mobile. They can watch objects move around above them. The mobiles today come with music as well for them to listen and relax to. Rattles are good toys for infants. It doesn’t matter what the rattle looks like as long as it’s easy for them to hold and make some noise. When they get a little older they can start shaking it to make the noise themselves. Teethers are another good toy for infants. They may not start teething for awhile but some just like to hold them and some like how they feel in their hands. When they get older they can double as teethers when their teeth start to come in. There are pianos that can be hung on their cribs. As newborns, they can move their arms and hit the keys and make noise. When they start to get a tad older, and their legs start kicking, the piano can be moved to where they can kick the keys and make noise. This will give them lots of fun while they start to realize that every time they kick their legs, the piano makes noise. Baby mirrors are another excellent toy. It gives the baby a chance to see what they look like. Even though they won’t realize that it’s them in the mirror until they get a little older, it still gives them something new to explore. Infant toys can be lots of fun for your infant and can be learning tools for them as well. The toys don’t’ have to be expensive ones though. Babies just need things that make some noise and that they can interact with. You can get cheap toys and they’ll be happy, just make sure that they’re safe for them to use.
