Are you looking for some unique gifts to give for birthdays, anniversaries etc.? Unique gifts are ones that a person wouldn’t be expecting, wouldn’t get for themselves or haven’t already gotten a million times already. Picking out a unique gift isn’t really that hard to do if you follow some of these tips.

Tip 1- You should start with focusing on the person that you will give your gift to. Think of one or two things about that person that stands out within their personality. For example, the person may be an excellent cook or maybe they like nature hikes.

Tip 2- Once you have come up with a couple of things about the person, you can start thinking of gift ideas. The key is to eliminate what you won’t get them. It sounds like more work this way, but really it’s not. Don’t start looking at catalogs, magazines or store sales ads just yet. Eliminate ideas first and then you can look through catalogs.

The purpose of doing it this way is to get you away from the stress and headaches of worrying about color schemes of their house or apartment or what their home needs. Thinking in this way, is what gives you those pounding headaches and makes you lose interest in getting a gift. If the person that will receive your gift is a cook then you know not to get candles, perfume or bath towels. You would want something that helps “celebrate” that part of their personality that stands out to you. So, a cook should get something cooking related.

Tip 3- In most cases, women prefer a lot of little gifts vs. just one big one. Men usually just want something useful. For someone who’s a cook, a gift basket with cooking utensils and spices would be a nice thing to get. It sounds expensive but it’s not. Look for the items on sale or even visit your local dollar store and pick up some things there. Putting these things in a large pot instead of a basket is another idea.

For the men who prefer something useful, try a gift that serves more than one purpose. For example, if they’re a nature hiker, a Swiss army knife or a compass watch would be useful to them. They’ll be appreciative of the gift because they can take one item with them that performs more than one function vs. several different items, so they can save space.

Unique gifts are an excellent way to show someone you were thinking about them and that you appreciate that part of their personality that stands out to you.
