Cigars are no more of a healthy choice in a tobacco product than a cigarette is. Cigars are basically bigger non filtered cigarettes. They contain tobacco, just like the cigarettes do. Inhaling cigar smoke is not the usual practice, but you still ultimately inhale some of that smoke even though you’re not intending to.
Cigarettes are smaller but the smoke is meant to be inhaled for the tobacco experience. Cigars may not be inhaled on purpose but you can’t keep from inhaling at least some of the harmful effects of the tobacco product. Cigars can have the same harmful effects that you see with cigarettes, pipes and chew. Tobacco is the harmful ingredient found in all those items and it’s what causes lung cancer and cancers of the throat, larynx, mouth, tongue and lips. Cigars aren’t any healthier than any other form of tobacco product. Cigars have been link to the harmful causes seen in non smokers because of the second hand smoke. It can also cause health problems in animals as well as people. The cigars are just as addictive as cigarettes and chew because of the nicotine that’s found in all these options. Smoking cigars doesn’t decrease your chances of addiction any more than the cigarettes, pipes or chew. By choosing to smoke a cigar instead of cigarettes, you don’t decrease your chances of the same diseases that cigarettes are linked to. The risk for those diseases is the same as smoking cigarettes especially if you tend to inhale the cigar smoke. Cigars are also linked to heart diseases, lung diseases, emphysema and even bronchial problems. COPD is another disease that can be seen with cigar smoking as well as cigarette smoking. Cigars have also been linked to infertility problems, still birth and low birth weight weights in newborns. These are the same as cigarette smoking. The health risks are the same for both. Cigarettes and cigars are definitely no different than the other when It comes to your health. The only safe alternative to cigarette smoking, pipe smoking or chewing tobacco is to quit the tobacco products altogether. Being smoke free or tobacco free is the only healthy way to go to protect your health and the health of your family and others around you including your pets.
